Watches
Portable time for over 400 years was a pocket watch which was hung on a chain, frequently decorated with fobs bearing crests and monograms, and placed in the top pocket of the gentleman’s pocket. Technology developed during WW1 enabled troops to wear a watch on their wrist but it did not prove to be popular until the development of the Rolex Oyster. Today, watches have many functions including stopwatch, alarms, date and month – even the time in other countries! And watches have become collectable for their rarity, beauty and brand value.
